Cathy's Show!

Just got back from Cathy’s show!

There was actually a great turnout, altho there were a few incidents.

We’ve come up with the idea that during the next show we will:
·        Have the food station more in the center so people stop like congregating only @ one side of the room
·        All of us will switch off name tags to keep people on their toes
·        We will attempt to act like those people on our name tags
·        Photobombing is a must

So yeah.

Clairely Claire was not there.  As wasn’t the Mencher.  But we had fun without them.

Again there was a pretty good turnout.  People were showing up inside before food was even set up & before the show hadn’t even technically started yet.  & a lot of Cathy’s personal friends were there so it’s really nice to see that she has such strong support from her core group.  :]

A lot of people were having quality conversations about the work.  A group of 3 ladies especially.  Like they had a conversation for EVERY piece for @ least 10 minutes per piece.  They were tearing it up.  Other people had smaller conversations.  But then those conversations let to gesticulating.  But then gesticulations led to actually touching the paintings.  & that’s not wassup.  No srsly y u gotta do that.  That painting is not yours.  Please stop.

I have some social anxiety, but I swallowed that & talked to some people.  Like this one lady for probably 14 minutes or so.  She even pronounced my name right.  :]  She’s in Mencher’s 103 A online class.  So yaaay for doing my job.

The crowds really started to congregate when the music started.  & I’m really jealous.  Because Cathy can paint &&& she can sing &&& she can play a musical instrument.  Really well.  That’s too much talent to go to someone.  Like I was pleasantly surprised @ her & her band.  I didn’t want the songs to end – especially because there was such a wide array of them.  Cathy’s Spanish is really lovely.  But unfortunately we were being TOO LOUD for the other shows [cuz there’s that Dog Meets God thing & then the other instrumental thing happening @ the same time so that’s another reason why that entire building was just packin’ it with people]. & we were told off by 2 people of semi authority.  One lady was a bit more forceful.  She kinda like stormed in there & was like “WHO’S IN CHARGE?”  Another wrapped his stern manner up in a compliment: “I love what you’re doing here BUT you need to tone it down.”

I can understand, but also I was a bit offended.  Don’t be haters.  Dude like your show hasn’t even started yet.  & the other show is like way the hell downstairs.  Don’t be elitist.  The art here is on par with your art.  Take a chill pill.

But then also the people wouldn’t leave.  Even after we cleared up all the food & I made an announcement to turn the volume down [that didn’t really happen lol] & we turned one of the lights off.  People were still in the gallery when I left.

Oh well.  I had a good time.   Other people had a good time.  I’m going to assume Cathy had a good time.  So that’s really all that matters.  Who cares about the haters.  I cannot see the haters.
